Hi jgv! Thanks for your bug report. The bug you describe has been fixed
in recent versions of software-center (in maverick) as can be seen in
the attached scree

to download the latest version of software-center and run that:

Can you please open a terminal (Applications > Accessories > Terminal),
type in
software-center
And then paste the output when you open software-center.
