And yes, this does sound very much like that bug. Even without opening
a terminal, I was able to reproduce it by just hitting enter when the
desktop came up.

This looks an awful lot like bug #540256, which we respun the i386/amd64
desktop and netbook images for, but not armel. Sorry about that, I
asked Tobin yesterday morning whether the ARM hardware we targeted works
