i can still reproduce with 2.6.35-7-generic
i noticed that during the lockup there are lots of dmesg lines like

disabling IOAT in the BIOS seems to prevent the crash

steps to reproduce.
* suspend and the resume

* apport starts to collect data for this trace, then the CPU monitor shows lots
of activity and IOwait for several minutes,
