Quite annoying.. i had it on 9.10. Then at some point it went away. Now
it has appeared on my 10.04. I think it happened after some update,
because there were few in the recent days.

I have this bug on my laptop too. I am using CompizConfig and Avant
Window Navigator as recent additions to my desktop. Bug #583214 is
present as well. My distro is Ubuntu Lucid Linx 2.6.32-24-generic and I
love it. I would like to know if it doesn't mean that my pc has been
hacked.

I have this issue also.
I have the screensaver set to "Blank Screen" after 30 minutes. "Activate
screensaver when computer is idle" and "Lock screen when screensaver is
active" are both checked.

The bug does not occur when I lock the screen (via the menu or ctrl-
alt-l) and immediately unlock it. Only when the screensaver has kicked
in.

Also seeing this problem since this morning (incidentally, this
coincided with the start of the behaviour I described in bug #583214,
don't know if the two could be related, though it seems somewhat
unlikely).
