I had the same problem and solved:
- install the 5.10 Ubuntu;
- change the apt sources;
- do a dist-upgrade with the 6.06 CD-ROM or by Internet;
- to solve problems with X, change again the apt sources to do an upgrade.
So it is working fine, but I had a lot of work to do it.
