This bug was caused by the lack of the python-indicate package in the
default install. This is fixed now and I think this bug can be closed.

Sean, this is not a duplicate of Bug #551301. That bug is about changing
the icon and this one is about adding indicators.
In fact, I've recently discovered that this bug will be fixed soon,
because the cause is the same of Bug #548814, lack of the python-
indicate package.

After recent updates to Lucid, I've noticed that there seems to be no
integration of Gwibber with the Messaging Menu at all: when I open
Gwibber, its entry on the Messaging Menu stays at "Set up broadcast
accounts" and has no running indicator. So I'd guess the problem is
broader than simply "not a

Although the release 2.29.91 says that "fixed a bug that prevented
mentions/replies to get added to the messaging indicator" and although
Bug 528270 is now fixed, I just tested Gwibber in a freshly installed
Karmic and it's still not adding mentions/replies to the messaging
indicator.
