I'm only speculating here, but chances are that if you did a custom
partitioning you forgot to format /, /usr/ or /var during the
installation, which is not supported ( bug 47046 is about the installer
not warning you of this ... ) At any rate, I think it's OK if I close

I will try to do so next time I do a reinstall. I just did a reinstall with
xubuntu and it went with no problems. My partitioning scheme as follows:
/dev/hda2 boot
/dev/hda3 / (ext3)
/dev/hda4 swap
/dev/hda5 /usr (ext3)
/dev/hda6 /home (ext3)

/var/log/partman to this bug, using the "Add Attachment" link on the
bug's web page? I know you said that you didn't have access to the log
files when you filed the bug report, but can you try to reproduce it and
