No, the solution doesn't work for me either. Can't understand why this
bug seems to be being ignored. There are lots of similar crash type
bugs with Ubuntuone-client all around.

i've got this went i start ubuntuone:

Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)
I found a solution! :D (damn i'm so happy that it's ME)
but i think it was too simple.
nano .config/ubuntuone/ubuntuone-client
[ubuntuone]
bookmarked = True
connected = True
connect = 1
show_applet = 1
after that, close cloud-applet (or start if it crashed)

I tried the solution provided in the link as well. I don't have a
syncdaemon.conf file either. It's strange because it was working fine
and just stopped.

Sorry, that solution doesn't help. I don't think it is related, as the
symptoms are different. Also the ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf
file that it talks about is not present in my system. I have tried
creating that file with the content suggested, but it doesn't resolve
the problem.
