@Felix Geyer: I use VLC 1.1 as my main player, also the dependency of backend package should install it. Any way, I have installed from different PPA, it works, but after closing the apps the use phonon, they crash. With the xine backend it worked. Better I open a bug for that when I upgrade to

As the xine backend will be not be maintained any more, when the vlc backend is ready, it would be nice to see phonon vlc backend packages. It already works better than the xine backend in some aspects. It has been reported that the audio quality is also better.[1] [1] http://amarok.kde.org/blog/a
