I use VLC 1.1 as my main player, also the dependency of backend package should
install it. Any way, I have installed from different PPA, it works, but after
closing the apps the use phonon, they crash. With the xine backend it worked.
Better I open a bug for that when I upgrade to

@Felix Geyer: Using your PPA vlc/phonon package, when trying to open any
app that uses phonon or "kcmshell4 kcm_phonon" it crashes. I get this
from a terminal:
main libvlc error: No modules were found, refusing to start. Check that
you properly gave a module path with --plugin-path.

As the xine backend will be not be maintained any more, when the vlc
backend is ready, it would be nice to see phonon vlc backend packages.
It already works better than the xine backend in some aspects. It has
been reported that the audio quality is also better.[1]

This would have to wait until it has at least 1 stable release. Last
time I saw there were still quite a few problems with it.
