Bryce, you can boot with a graphical display using the 'nomodeset'
option from boot menu (Live USB).

Intel 915.
These are the hardware specifications of my laptop:
Sony Vaio VGN-BX296VP
Pentium M 1,6 Ghz
1 Gb RAM
Intel 915 chipset (using 256 MB shared memory)

better. We hear from upstream that a number of bugs (possibly including
this one) have been fixed in the newer DRM code from the 2.6.33 kernel.
