I have poppler-data installed.

32bit updated to the latest Ubuntu packages.
Uname: Linux 2.6.35-6-generic i686

here's the screenshot of what i get here, as you see, same results as
the screenshot you added with acroread, not a bug, you probably have a
broken installation or a missing library.

Umm, Pedro, I'm a bit confused by your comment. When you say that
you're getting the same results with evince and xdvi, do you mean that
both display the document, or both do not display the document. Did you
want Valentas to provide a screenshot of what he's expecting, or what
he's experiencing.
