Turns out this is partially a duplicate of [[41427]]; I had inadvertently activated slow keys. In addition, there's another bug: when adding a new USB keyboard when Slow Keys is activated, the new USB keyboard doesn't honor the Slow Keys setting. In my case, this made my new keyboard actually use

Some more info: if I click and hold a keyboard key with repeat keys on, the repeated key will work. So, clicking the down arrow doesn't do anything for the first 1 sec (my click and hold threshold), then starts going down continuously. The same for any other key. -- keyboard doesn't accept inpu
