That seems like it would make sense--is there any chance that sendmail
could be made optional or recommended? It was just surprising to see
that a light-weight editor (or so I thought) would pull in a heavy-
weight package like sendmail.

jove have a boot script that emails edits in progress during shutdown. I
suspect this is why it
pull in a mail server.
