i talked to the people on #ubuntu-motu and they told me that this
version bump is not possible without cooperating with the debian guys..
(see http://bugs.debian.org/359810) .. but the bug report is about a
year old without a response, so we shouldnt expect much

Still present in Feisty. Package "ruby" is Ruby 1.8.2 and package
"ruby1.8" is Ruby 1.8.5.
Please, fix this. Having both packages is misleading. I understand there might
be some problems with Ruby > 1.8.2 in certain applications but then the most
logical step would be to rename those packages:

Confirming this bug. Doing a `ruby --version` on the other hand reports
the correct version.
