totem is GNOME, Parole is xulrunner based on gstreamer, it would be wise
to change it.
However, I don't really feel that I care anyway to be honest, I use an
xfce minimal install using the ubuntu mini.iso.

though, you should contact the xubuntu team rather than open a bug on
the totem source
