As of Kubuntu 10.04 (KDE 4.4.2) no change. It is still enirely missleading an false. 1. Printer values in Properties reflect the printer default settings of eg. Cups 2. Printer values in Options >> do not reflect the printer settings. 3. Most people will use Options >> and not properties. 4. Und

Another possiblity is of course to gray out the color selection in the Options >> print dialog, in case it can have no effect due to override by a "Follow the "Print out Mode" in KDE4 system panel printing settings. Sorry for the comment-spam ... -- Print dialog does not honor color setting http

After some more investigation it turns out, that apparently this is due to an unfortunate selection of (unaltered) default settings. In the KDE4 system panel printing settings, the color Mode is set to follow the "Print out Mode", which renders any color selection in the Options >> pane of the KDE
