Bug #125314 looks the same, exception coming from copy_all, with
'OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/target/bin''. Can these
be duplicates?

Although the errors seem to be to do with an input device, it's worth
trying the alternate Kubuntu iso for your laptop. This is available at:
http://releases.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/edgy/kubuntu-6.10-alternate-i386.iso

Wow, this was a while ago now, so I'm not too sure exactly what
happened. I'm also shocked at myself, it's not like me to log a bug
report and give little info to go with it. I suspect some of the
information that I originally reported may have got lost somehow,
probably at my end, my bad.
