This problem just happened to me as well, I renamed the miro-log file to
miro-log.bak, and it worked. (I was contemplating a uninstall
reinstall, but decided to run in terminal to see if that would work-
around the not opening problem, I got the "IOError: [Errno 5]
Input/output error: '/home/X
Closing this since you seem to have fixed it. Feel free to reopen this
if you can reproduce this bug. Thanks.

Ended up deleting miro-log and then uninstalling and reinstalling - then
everything worked again. Guess somehow the program couldn't access that
file
