I have this same problem only I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic (kernel:
2.6.31-20-generic). Basically if the user is using a program such as
GIMP or OpenOffice the computer will all of a sudden lock up and the
user cannot do anything. The mouse will still move but nothing can be
clicked on. Ctrl+Alt
