Hi,
here some additional information.
I switched an external LCD to VGA out and the netbook-launcher works
fine. After detaching the VGA connection, the behaviour is as before,
slow.
Some additional information concerning my configuration:

I used the Ubunutu NetBook remix 9.1 when it came out. Installed it and
everything worked fine.
