@artsci2: Just a note http://start.ubuntu.com/9.10/ is a locally cache page. Displaying the page wont need connection to internet. Whereas if you use www.google.com or any other web page as your homepage , it will need to connect to the internet. Hence you are not facing the redirection with htt
