Please tell me what does it require to get this bug report out of
triaged.
With latest linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-generic pacakge there
ist no change:
* Mute internal mic does not work
* Setting gain level to mic does not work

Concerning my hardware: I have no second OS installed, but when I got it
it was running Windows Vista and setting the mic gain level certainly
worked (Skype). It's not only the gain level, muting the microphone is
not working too, which might give you a clue.

To me, it seems to come down to a three cases here:
1) The quirk is wrong/buggy
2) Your hardware is broken
3) Ehh...something else.
Can you confirm that your hardware isn't broken? (E g by trying it in
another OS?)
