I also am having this problem. Converting jpegs without putting the
"-convert jpeg" option makes the PDF file size HUGE (>100MB for a couple
<1MB jpegs), and trying to put the "-convert jpeg" option results in a
segfault.
Using ImageMagick 6.5.1-0 on Ubuntu 9.10
