# aptitude remove libclutter-1.0-0
...
Downgrade the following packages:
libclutter-1.0-0 [1.2.2-0ubuntu1~9.10~ricotz1 (karmic, now) -> 1.0.6-0ubuntu1
(karmic)]
After downgrading, I installed netbook-launcher and it is working again.

I think the new gnome-shell could have bring something from the ppa like
a unvalid clutter version or so, can you have a look there?
Also, you can just have a try with latest beta and netbook-launcher
(even without installing it) to ensure it's not on the dev version for
you as well?

My system is a vanilla Ubuntu Karmic 64-bit install. I installed

I've got the same problem and unlike Bug #517780 and Bug #486058, I've
been running netbook-launcher for a while with no problems. A week or so
ago I set up gnome-shell with ppa:vperetokin/unofficial-gnome-shell. I
switched back and forth. Then I removed that and used
ppa:ricotz/testing. Around thi
