jeff3211, I would think that a clean install would be best. Be sure to
test the CD to make sure it has no defects. In the meantime, I will set
this to Invalid as it doesn't seem we can really diagnose what happened
very well.

I apologize, I left out some of the kernel description id.s in the above post.
I was trying to update to 9.10 from 9.04.2.6.28-16-generic I had 4 previous
kernels remaining in
the grub menu but .12 did not exist. I tried to load them all in turn,
but none would launch.
I tried to restore ea
I did try to boot into the other kernels remaining on my machine. The latest
revision was 9.04.16.
I tried .15, .14. .13.and .11 before I tried any of the recovery modes. I only
used the .16 recovery kernel when
attempting to resolve the issue to allow a successful boot. (I would have tried

During the very beginning of the boot process (after BIOS POST, but
before the Ubuntu splash screen), could you try and see if there is
another kernel you can boot into in the grub menu? You can get into the
grub menu by pressing
