This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid.

Apparently the soundcard Mute button and LED are not working with 7
either, the only drivers available are the ones that you can get by
asking the Drivers Manager for a suitable drivers via the Internet...
The keys that are not working
So if these hotkeys are not attached to the main keyboard event device,
they might have a separate one. Can you please do "sudo lsinput" and
check which names also sound plausible? (E. g. on Sony notebooks there
is a "Sony Vaio Keys" device which is responsible for the hotkeys).
