I fixed this bug by reformatting the hard disk and installed the system
again. The upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10 didn't work. For me the bug is
irrelevant.

Restarting firefox should fix the menu icons and as for panel icon you
may need to change it by hand, more than likely the cause for this is
the firefox-3.0 -> 3.5 as default. Please post the output of the
following commands:
apt-cache policy firefox-3.0 firefox-3.5 firefox ubufox
lsb_release -a
u
reassigned to firefox package
