The X server in tightvnc-1.3.9 has problems on 64-bit systems, this was
fixed in tightvnc-1.3.10. Patch for 1.3.9 sources available at

I still have this bug on Ubuntu lucid 64 bits. Random bug, doesn't
always crash.

I can confirm the bug, RealVNC 4.1 Applet/Application crashes the X-Server when
using a composing window manager (Compiz, KWin with composing effects; metacity
isn't affected). I'm using the nvidia-glx-185 Driver.

It's not a browser specific bug. The java runtime (openjdk & sun jdk
,too) let crash the x-server.
