Removing a DVD from my system got this working for me. Otherwise, usb-
creator seemed to be basing my USB device's necessary free space on that
disc, even after I selected the Ubuntu ISO (wouldn't recalculate).

As a workaround try formatting the stick in gparted to FAT32 and set
bootable flag on.

Not even working after login/logout. Usb-creator always reports zero
free space after formatting, and logging out logging in just reports
that the device needs to be formatted again.
I'm unable to get a single bootable device created with usb-creator.
