Using the jabber account also doesn't seem to work. I'm still getting

According to #empathy, the problem is related with DNS problem of facebook
servers. So currently way to use facebook IM on empathy is:
1- create a new Jabber account
2- username should be: your_facebook_usern

The issue is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it
could send the bug the to the people writting the software

Problem's solved after I installed pidgin-facebookchat plugins from here:
http://code.google.com/p/pidgin-facebookchat/
More likely that its version in the karmic's repo is outdated, the newest one
is version 1.62

Same problem for me, after an upgrade to Karmic it worked for a day, now
it doesn't... may be some process duing post-upgrade (I uninstalled lots
of old unused packages, removed their config..)
