I notice this problem for the first time with my Dell Studio 1749 with
Ubuntu Natty. With Maverick it works very well

Fan is constantly running (and consuming power) also with the Maverick
2.6.34 new kernel (AMD64 architecture) on my Dell Latitude D620 -
lowering the two cores to powersafe setting (1.0Ghz) via the CPU
governor Gnome applet, too

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it
recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the
