I am experiencing this with a fresh install of 32-but Lucid on a new
laptop, probably one time in two when booted from cold. The
NetworkManager button (which is leftmost of the group on the right) is
corrupted with the graphic of the adjacent power meter and fails to
function; the Shutdown button (
I think the importance of this bug should be raised, maybe even
critical, since in my case the icon not only dissappears, but also loses
its function. So, e.g., I cannot logon to other networks or I can't

The bug doesn't always appear as I describe in my last comment. I have also
observed that the logout button (which is to the far right) is doubled or not
working. There may be other mess-ups I don't recall right now.

I'm experiencing this issue myself often on two different machines. I
haven't noticed a pattern, but when reading the reports and looking at
my taskbar, I notice that there is no network-manager icon (there should

I have the same issue on 9.10. Sometimes it is missing the gnome panel.
When I restart it normally is back there, but the system will complain
that "the gnome panel is not responding, are you sure you want to
reboot?"
I would suspect this to be linked to compiz or 3d effects?

1. It is reproducible, but it doesn't happen very often, so there are no 100%
reproducible steps that I've found.
2. When the bug occurs, it's usually when I'm logging on and off, either with
one user, or with multiple accounts. For example, just yesterday, the bug
occurred again when setting u
Of course, now that I've rearranged my taskbar, I can't reproduce the
bug, even if I set it back the way it was before. This might be a hard
one to track down.
