I'm no longer affected in the sense that I don't use audio anymore on
this laptop. I don't really know if the problem is still there or not.

I just tried to reboot the laptop. As expected the audio now works fine
again. I then put the system through standby mode. Audio still works
fine, so if "standby" is related to the problem, it is not consistently
so.
