Installing a new kernel (2.6.31-14-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 16
14:04:26 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux) solves the problem.
But why installs the update procedure not the needed kernel?
Okay, I used the eepc kernel from www.array.org. But even than, I expect
at least a warning!

It seems that after upgrading to Karmic you are still
booting a non-Karmic kernel. There may have been an
issue updating grub during the upgrade.
Please try:
sudo mv /boot/grub/menu.lst /boot/grub/menu.lst.backup
sudo update-grub
sudo reboot
After rebooting run:
uname -a
Verify that the
You're still using Jaunty's kernel (2.6.28) instead of Karmic's
(2.6.31). You should use the latter if you intend to use Karmic! Most
likely your grub configuration (grub.cfg/menu.lst) was not updated
correctly.
