This is strange bug. All I see in my xsessionerrors file that could be relevant
is:
** (update-notifier:1895): DEBUG: --security-updates-unattended: 0
And after starting Firefox manually:
(firefox:2835): GLib-WARNING **: g_set_prgname() called multiple times
(firefox:2835): GLib-WARNING **: g_s
Confirmed as well after today's update.

I can confirm this bug after today's Firefox update. Firefox shows a
button, prompting a restart, but clicking on the button merely closes
the browser, forcing the user to start it again manually.
