I'm not sure if I have the same problem, as my system did not crash
immediately after enabling the sta driver. Rather, it appears to work
perfectly. However I have been having frequent kernel panics, which I
am thinking more and more are relating the the wireless driver, as they
seem to happen on

I have a dell studio hybrid (x386) and been running 8.10 with no
problems. Upgraded to 9.10 and tried to install the broadcom driver. It
hung the system had to use the big button. Then the system was broken ..
could not boot! I am very very sad over this performance of ubuntu
system???

I am having this problem with my Inspiron 1545 Laptop. Even though it is
Linux Mint 8 RC1, it is doing the same thing as Ubuntu 9.10 when I first
got it.

Same thing Dell Latitude D630 (BCM4311). I switched back to the B43
driver and have yet to have a crash since.
Does this only affect amd64 or is anyone using i386 with the same crash?
