regarding this being fixed by switching to GNOME. For future reference
you can manage the status of your own bugs by clicking on the current
status in the yellow line and then choosing a new status in the revealed
drop down box.
Sorry guys. Some time ago I switched form KDE to Gnome. So I'm no longer
able to reproduce this error. Maybe some of the other guys that
confirmed the problem can try again.

I have exactly the same problem.
I am also affected by Bug 457220 which crashes oowriter when saving notes in
.doc format. Maybe this two Bugs are connected somehow.

I just found the problem is fixed by removing the package openoffice.org-kde.
Anyway, openoffice does not look that pretty afterwards.
