Thank you for reporting this bug. tsclient has been removed from the
Ubuntu 11.10 archives. The software has not had a new release in years
and was no longer being maintained. Unfortunately that means this bug
won't be fixed.

It can be solved in a good way (in 9.10 at least) following these steps:
1) Launch systemsettings
2) Go to Advanced Tab
3) File Associations
4) Add a new file association (RDP)
5) Extensión .rdp
6) Aplication: tsclient (usually in /usr/bin)
7) Done and update (and I had to close the session
Confirmed in Ubuntu Karmic 9.10.
The proposed fix in last comment, changes the default program for
opening text/plain documents to tsclient too.
It's a bad solution :-(

Confirmed in Intrepid Ibex 8.10, lets get this fixed.
For those who right-click on the RDP file and choose "Open with Other
Application", the programme to use is "tsclient" - put that in under
"custom command".

I got a reasonable way into fixing this issue when I was playing with it
in Gutsy but I gave up. It is possible to fix, but I don't know enough
about editing/creating mime types.
A simple fix would be for someone (who knows more about mime types and
'default' programs)
Still in Feisty and now even on Gutsy.
