Is it lost now? :/ Any priority?
Does not seem to get any attention.

It's very strange that empathy is a set as a default gnome IM app. I've
just installed a new Ubuntu 10.10 the problem persists. The empathy
version 2.32.1 doesn't save contacts and the file
~/.local/share/folks/relationships.ini remains empty. I tried to add
them many times and always when I close
actually this bug does not appear every time. If I try to add the same
contact again and again and close empathy inbetween I could manage to
add it after some trys and it kept it. So maybe it's caused by an
exception in telpathy haze?

I found out, that empathy does not ask the new ICQ Contact for
Authorization while for instance Kopete does and then the contact stays
permanently in the Contact List on the ICQ Server.

Workaround: Add new Contacts using ICQ2GO (on www.icq.com) or using the
ICQ windows client. That way new contacts are saved on the server and
empathy can receive them from there every time it's started.

I confirm that this bug exists in Ubuntu 10.04 with Empathy 2.30.1.
It it also not possible to have an ICQ contact without a group in
Empathy. As soon as you remove it from the group it vanishes.

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: empathy
I have added an icq-contact. Everything works, but after logout/logon or
Chat->Quit the contact is lost.
Now I have to re-add the contact everytime I want to use it.
