** Description changed:
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Just installed Karmic from RC desktop CD.
Install goes fine, the live CD boots and X works with no issues in the
install process. Once the install is finished, we go for first reboot.
All seems normal until GDM tries
Tried the GDM fix with no success.
After removing xserver-xorg-video-intel, I get X working and usable (except
screen resolutions that are not complete). So the problem is really related to
this package.

Thanks from the redhat bug sounds like the root cause of the crash is a
bug in the kernel. The looping behavior is bug 441638 - a fix is in
karmic-proposed now.

Hi elephantman,
Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` and `dmesg`, and attach your
/var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this
issue. If you're using a custom /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.
