Well, hard to say, since this does not happen regularly. I will have to
do a scan again to see if more files have lost their date. I haven't
heard of anyone else having this problem. Definitely weird.

Weird, I've never seen anything like this on my box. Still an issue with
later versions of Ubuntu?

Looking through backups, this happened the first time between 20070316
and 20070613 on the vfat fs. The system was initially installed with
dmraid and set up in dual boot with XP in March 2006.

I try to remember what I did 2009-10-14, I think I was moving
directories around, but (mostly) using mv and not nautilus. Is it
possible that some inotify stuff is triggered and something like a
misbehaving thumbnailer or indexer is started?

00:00:00" on a vfat partition, or "1940-10-24 02:26:18" on my ext3 root
