I managed to fix the problem by adding some PPA, I even started helping
people, now after an update I'm stuck again in the same problem, and
"pon" doesn't work either, are we using a beta or a final release? I

Same problem here! I used Mint 7 and everything runs, with Karic -
nothing! I've made no Upgrade, I've installed Karmic new, but nothing
runs with DSL. When I use the Live-CD, nothing happens, too :-(

Indeed, it doesn't seem to be a hardware problem.
After running pppoeconf, you can connect to internet with "pon dsl-
provider".

Same problem here guys,
NM can't connect to internet through DSL connections.
I've verified that DNS resolution works, though. Ping and web surfing
does not.
Interesting thing is that a simple 'pppoeconfig' brings the connection
up full and working. So it is not a hardware problem.
