Now i know where this field come from. As you can see from my screenshot
I have the dictionary lookup added to my top panel. It is the window
from the dictionary lookup that leave this trace on my desktop.

Turning off your desktop effects is normal, as metacity is a minimal
window manager without fancy effects. But you shouldn't be getting an
error message when you try to run metacity. Can you provide the exact
error message you get when you run metacity --replace?

My Gnome desktop have a rectangular field, about 5x15 cm in the middle
top, that sink into my desktop. This error has been since the Karmic
Beta, Even if Update Manager has been performed 3 times this field still
appear on my desktop.
