I am also affected by this bug. I'm using a 3G USB modem, with the SIM
PIN set to an 8-digit number. I am unable to enter the PIN because the
number entry field is incorrectly limited to 4 digits.

I've done some more investigations:
With a 4 digit PIN I can connect to the UMTS network.
The connection settings for the mobile connection in the network manager
seem to be bogus, because neither the PIN I have to enter in the prompt
is saved there nor is the PIN entered there used by the networ
