Jaunty gave me 85 Hz refresh rates and resolutions higher then 1024x768
Karmic beta restricts me to 1024x768x75 & lower
At 75 Hz I can still see the monitor flickering,
which hurts my eyes, & actually causes me to tire faster
Addendum:
Lucid Lynx Alpha (2.6.32-10-generic kernel)
With a Dell E771a CRT Monitor,
and Intel 82G35 (G3500) Integrated Graphics,
allows up to 1280x1024 at 60 Hz
also 1024x768 at 85 Hz,
however it does not use the proper
specs for that mode.
The monitor goes black or blank.

bug reports # 458624 & 458625 should be combined with # 450055 as

newest developments:
the latest partial ugrades & updates of Oct 13, 7pm, 2009:
seems to have removed the black shadow frames around windows, icons &
apps,
as well as the perculiar green check mark on folders & icons.
A definite improvement!
Boot up speed has also increased, perhaps due to tod
correction:
it is the Xorg.0.log file (not the xorg.conf file)
Karmic beta appears not to create an xorg.conf file.
I do not know where Karmic beta writes it's xorg configuration to or if
it does so at all!?
