Same problem here. For me it seems to have gotten a lot worse since a
fresh install of gutsy. Didn't really have the problem with feisty
before, but now this happens very frequently (several times an hour). I
mostly see it in firefox, but other applications such as thunderbird,
eclipse, gnome-sys
Since upgrade to gutsy this problem did not come up any more.

Same problem here. I've experienced said crashes since Feisty, but the
upgrade to Gutsy seems to have made it even worse. Applications that
crash most regularly in this manner are:
firefox
thunderbird
gnome-screensaver

This behavior has only emerged since t
Additional info: xtrace (= x connection tracer) did not reveal useful logging
information.
Fixing the frequency did not succeed either.

Hey there,
me too, I've experienced this bug during the last few days. Seems to
happen randomly -- but only with Firefox. Whereas that is the only
Mozilla software I'm using, there's no Sunbird or Thunderbird or
anything installed here.
Is there anything I can do to collect information or help ot
The biggest problem of all is that it is very hard to pinpoint the
problem, as it seems that the xserver itself does not produce any error
at all when dropping the connection. Such an error could help identify
the circumstances when such a connection drop occcurs, but yet again
there is no error on
X-SWAT team, can you give us a hand with this one? Is there anything we
can try to pin down what causes this problem? I would consider this far
more serious than 'medium': I already lost work due to this bug several
times.

I am using a Dell Latitude D505, i810 driver. The system was previously
breezy and this problems were not happening. The problem appeared after
upgrading from breezy to dapper.

I got dapper from a Breezy upgrade.

this matters).

I'm experiencing exactly this bug when running either SwiftFox or
Firefox (both 1.5.0.4.). I'm surfing, and when I switch tabs or close a
tab, I get this error :

Let's first see if there is something identical between our setups :
- How did you get your dapper ? Is it a fresh install ? Or an upgrade.
- What kind of hardware are you running ? Is it a laptop ? What are the
hardware details ?

I can confirm this (on Dapper). This happens for me with a wide variety
of programs, mostly the panel and firefox.
It doesn't seem to be driver-specific, since I am using the ati driver,
not the i810.
Any way to debug this?
