I have a new variant of this problem running Lucid beta-1 (with some
updates) on the same system: screen coordinates are shifted, and the
console tty's do not work. See Bug #495553 "Screen origin shifted to
center, screen wraps, on Averatec 3280 with openchrome driver" I'm not
sure whether this is

I think bug #436341 is probably a variant of this problem, and is fairly
serious.

See bug # 436341, which is still happening on the RC, and is quite
serious.

[K8M800] Conso
Just a few minutes ago, I tried switching to a console on this
Averatec 3280 laptop, and the text screen was normal - no flashing
colors. And the version of the driver is still
$ dpkg -s xserver-xorg-video-openchrome
Version: 1:0.2.903+svn758-0ubuntu1
So, as I was beginning to suspect
As I understand the problem exists between Jaunty and Karmic openchrome
revisions, and this is regression.
In Ubuntu Jaunty the openchrome revision is 1:0.2.903+svn713-1ubuntu1
In Ubuntu Karmic the openchrome revision is 1:0.2.903+svn758-0ubuntu1
Please build/install the openchrome driver with sv
Output from `dpkg -s xserver-xorg-video-openchrome:
The current package is version 1:0.2.903+svn758-0ubuntu1
The same version is in the beta CD.
And the same version shows on the Alpha-6 CD.
Could it be that some other module is causing this problem?

Here's the Xorg.0.log for the Beta version.
I don't immediately see relevant version information for the Openchrome
driver differing between the Alpha-6 and Beta versions.

What I have done so far is to boot the Alpha-4, Alpha-6, and Beta live
CDs.
This does not happen with those two Alpha versions.
With the Beta version, it's a bit different. When I switch to consoles 3
through 6, I get a blank screen, instead of the flashing colors, and I
don't seem to be able to
So the problem exists between openchrome svn713 (Jaunty) and svn758
(Karmic)
Go back to the previous openchrome revision between svn713 and svn758,
and check in which exactly openchrome revision this bug appeared.
For example:
Go back to the previous openchrome revision by type:
svn update -r
Thank you!
No, the bug did not exist in 9.04 and earlier versions, although a
similar display did happen sometimes in MUCH earlier versions during
system startup and shutdown.
I'm attaching Xorg.0.log ...

Does this bug exist in the previous Ubuntu revisions (9.04, 8.10)?
Attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file.
If you can from after reproducing this issue (or /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old).
