Edit:
/home/username/.mozilla/firefox/default/extensions/vmwarev...@vmware.com/plugins/lib/wrapper-gtk24.sh
and then add:
VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK='force'
export VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK="force"
Restart Firefox, now it shall work.

It IS a problem with a Ubuntu component, i.e. GTK. Use
VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK=force in the environment for some improvement.

For what its worth, this is NOT an Ubuntu problem. I have this problem
on Kubuntu AND PCLinuxOS. I have been fighting it for 2 weeks on PCLOS
and just today installed Kubuntu 9.10. The problem DID NOT exist on the
initial install BUT after a full update.
I tested a fresh install of Kubuntu 9.10

any Ubuntu package. I do know it comes with VMware Server 2.0.1. I also
cannot tell whether the problem is in firefox. All I can do is describe
the bug and state that the bug wasn't there in jaunty but it is there in

I'll reassign to that package. I searched the archive and was unaware
that it was packaged.

What makes you so sure it is VMware's problem? I think "we" (as in
