I figured out a solution that works indefinitely, at least till an
update comes along anyway. Go to applications>settings>Xfce 4 Settings
Manager>Power Management and all settings for monitor and brightne

Even my U100 has the same problem. The only solution is to make a few
clicks on the main menu.

This also affects me on the final stable release of Xubuntu 9.10, MSI
Wind u100. The brightness goes insane, flipping from brighter to darker
to brighter, in an endless loop. This is a pretty severe bug.

i'm also affected with this bug. i've found that, if the brightness-
blinking starts, i can go to a terminal and do a "killall gnome-power-
manager" to stop the blinking. @TomBoj, where's that "start" button?
