You're right, that fixed the "bug". But if I understood it correctly,
it's an intentional change, right? So maybe we should mark this either
as "won't fix" or as a dupe of bug #407621. Your call. :)

Sorry, i shouldn't have said 'This is related...' so fast, but 'This might be
related to...'.
So, in case
$ gconftool-2 --type bool --set /desktop/gnome/interface/menus_have_icons true
fixes this for you, have a look at bug #407621.

This is related to bug #407621 and therefore intended.
One could argue about showing the 'note' icon though because for me
notes feel more like files, and other files still show icons in the
menus as in Places > Recent Documents. But there's only one kind of note
symbol for all notes, so why show
